Synopsis:

Magdalena is set in a village along the Magdalena River in Colombia, where Padre José is overseeing festivities at a shrine dedicated to the Miracle Madonna. However, trouble brews when Pedro arrives, causing disruptions and sparking jealousy. Pedro, angered by the celebrations, plots to steal the Madonna statue, believing it brings harm to the tribe. Magdalena is a folk opera that touches on themes of adventure religion, status, and belonging.
