Synopsis
Texas, Li’l Darlin’ centers on the character of Harvey Small, an editor reeling from the GOP’s defeat in 1948. Determined to find a candidate to rejuvenate the party’s image, Small sends his top scout, Brewster Ames II, to Texas. There, Brewster discovers Hominy Smith, a patriotic figure whose campaign slogan is simply “Texas, Li’l Darlin’.” Texas, Li’l Darlin’ is a golden age musical that touches on themes of politics, leadership, and democracy.
