The number of Hamilton covers that have popped up over the last couple of years is still growing, and the variety is staggering! 1. “Alexander Hamilton” by The Playbillies

It’s only fitting to kick off the list with the band that inspired the idea for this blog post! After one listen to this rendition, it was clear that we needed to make a post filled with awesome Hamilton covers. And if you’re wondering what this particular cover is all about – well it’s a bluegrass version of the opening song. And there really isn’t much more you can even ask for in life.

2. “My Shot” by Lacey, Nyseli, and Bianca

Watch as these three girls (Lacey, Nyseli and Bianca) totally ROCK this song. Not only are they awesome rappers, but they bring a totally new style to the table in the process. Here’s hoping they take things further with more videos!

3. “Found Tonight” by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt

Not sure if this counts as a cover, as it features Lin-Manuel Miranda himself. But there is no way this was not making the list. This beautiful mashup between Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt was created as a way to raise awareness and funds for the March For Our Lives Initiative.

4. “The Schuyler Sisters” by Hamilton get MisCast”

This is one of the more interesting Hamilton covers on the list in which three young Broadway boys take on the roles of the Schuyler Sisters. The performance isn’t perfectly manicured, but it’s definitely packed with talent and charm. The three stars are Luca Padovan (from School of Rock), Joshua Colley (from Les Misérables), and Douglas Baldeo (Kinky Boots).

5. “Helpless” by Jodi Jahnke

In this cover, Jodi Jahnke plays all of the featured roles in separately recorded tracks. And there’s more! She has done many Hamilton covers in this fashion, so if you’re an instant fan, you’ll probably love those too!

6. “Dear Theodosia” by Working with Lemons

It’s hard to give these guys a single spot on the list, because they have done a few “Hamilton in real life” videos. Their videos are beyond words, and should be way more viral than they already are. Your only challenge? Not to cry!

7. “Non Stop” by Justin Llamas and Friends

At first glance, this may seem like it’s going to be a simple karaoke version of “Non Stop”, but just give it three seconds. These five friends all share the same voice coach and display incredible talent. There are moments in which you can close your eyes and pretend you are listening to a cast recording. So enjoy the voices of Christina Jardine, Justin Llamas, Christian Abrojena, Xavier Ali, and Jessica Montez.

8. “Say No to This” by Olivia Griffin

This beautiful yet simple acoustic cover really captures the essence of the song, without any over-the-top frills. Just two artists singing their hearts out with a guitar and a staircase.

9. “Cabinet Battle #2” by Talk Less, Sign More

This cover is unique in that it’s performed primarily in ASL with the singers in the background. And to top things off, this “Cabinet Battle” features both the New York Deaf Theatre and Hamilton cast members.

10. “Burn” by Musicality

This cover is already impressive. But the fact that it’s done by a high school vocal ensemble is totally mind-blowing. It’s crazy that so much talent can fit into a single room. Curie High School is located in Chicago, and Musicality has posted a wide variety of awesome videos.

BONUS: “Hamilton in 7 Minutes” by RANGE

And finally, to close off the mix, let RANGE take you on a journey through the musical by focusing on the highlights of specific numbers. Between the talent, costumes, and the beautiful staging, you will definitely be satisfied.

  • I actually just saw Hamilton about two weeks ago in London and I was blown away by what an amazing show it is. Obviously the music is absolutely great and it really gets the crowd into the show, but also the London cast was impeccable and there wasn’t a flaw on the stage.

Since I enjoyed the music so much, I definitely want to check out these covers!

    Thanks for sharing! x
